Default Picked Up My New Engine Today!!!

It's a GM Performance 330HP 350 with a Performer intake. It should be a definate improvement over the L-48.

Yes, they are Vortec iron heads. I looked into getting the ZZ4 engine with aluminum heads but the budget wouldn't allow it.

Your probably right but we got back from Summit at 1pm and I worked from then until 8pm. It's been a long day.

I'll get back out there tomorrow night. I'm hoping to have the swap done in a month or so. I'm going to rebuild the trans and do a lot of cleanup under the hood while the motor is out.

I have a Crane electronic unit in the dizzy. I would convert to HEI in a second if I didn't have to worry about the tach drive. The tach drive HEI's are kinda expensive.

Perfect motor for that car. That's useable power, the kind you can modulate with your right foot in a turn, -congrats

I had one of those in my '80 I used to have. It was a great motor. With the stock gears, the car pulled really hard on the interstate.

Awesome! You're gonna have some fun! The only thing I would do is paint the block chevy orange, otherwise looks great.

Got the same engine a few months ago - nice to have an engine that is fast and dependable. As stated, do paint it orange to go with the era.
On my '70 with a LT1 Hood I could not use the Q Jet because of clearance issues - had to go with a smaller Holly. Are you OK with hood clearance? PS: Per other post you can get a HEI with Tach drive from Star Performance and others under $200 (search other threads because it has been discussed.)

Hopefully I will be ok on clearance. It looks like the Performer is about 1 1/2 inches higer than the stock intake. I'm planning to use a low profile air cleaner so hopefully it will fit.

Thanks for the info on the distributor. I'll look into it.

Just FYI I used the GM intake which might be higher than the one your using. Also, used a low profile air cleaner. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the info. I wonder what the stock manifold is. I picked the Performer because of concerns about height and because I'm looking for more low end torque. With all of the cops in this town, high end horsepower doesn't do you much good.
