I was wanting to get a new indy 500 tire before they become hard to find and the price goes thru the roof on rare ones and put it on a stock alum wheel for my spare . Is there any mods to do to get it to fit ?
It should fit with no problem at all. You may have to drop the inner attachment rods down a bit (if the carrier doesn't want to go up far enough in the rear), but it's made to hold a standard tire/rim.
Wouldn't fit in my '76. I used 2" couplers to lower the two bolts holding the front of the carrier - that gave enough room for 255s. However, the bottom of the tub is now the point of least ground clearance, and I scrape it occasionally.
I just call AAA use there flatbed and take me to a tire shop. Call me Lazy, or old. I get in my Vette clean and I ant getting my hands or clothes dirty for nothing.
