Default Barett-Jackson Palm Beach

I watched part of the Barrett-Jackson Plam Beach auction last night. A 65 Vette was the highest priced car to go last night. It was a numbers matching vert with a 327/350, 4 speed power train. It went for $63,000. The second highest sale was a 64 Vette coupe that was not numbers matching. It was a 327/300, automatic and went for $54,000. They also sold a heavily modified 69 vert with a supercharged 427/1000, 4 speed for $31,000, an 80 customized coupe with a transplanted ZZ4 350/420, automatic for $10,000 and an original 82 coupe 350/200 automatic for $19,500. That was the first night of the auctions and the cars being sold were clearly the second string players. Today and tonight there will be 20 Vettes ranging from 58 roadster to a 2000 custom vert. Lots of good feedback on values and lots of fun viewing. Watch for lot numbers 312, 323, 324, 333.1, 340.1, 345, 348, 348.1, 350.1, 355, 356, 361.1, 364, 365, 370, 388, 388.1, 389, 401 and 422.

Yeah, it was quite an interesting show last night... Really enjoyed not only seeing all the Vettes, but a range of automobiles that the average Joe could conceivably afford to purchase.

None of these insano prices that the Scottsdale Auction brought.

Do you think that reflects a difference in the location or a softening in the overall vintage car market? As a "stockholder" in the Vette market, I'm hoping it's the former. I guess we'll know when the b.s. and the bidding is all over on Sunday. I'm only moderately knowledgible about Vettes, but I can tell you those announcers don't know as much about vintage Mustangs as they think they do.

I think it has more to do with the fact that this secondary auction is just that, a secondary lower tier auction, by design. There seems to be less of the pristine, barn find, out of this world crazy "only 3 original miles", still has the original "gas" from 1953... That kinda bs..

Let's reserve judgement on whether the Corvette market has softened or not until the weekend is over. The really rare and nice original or restored cars will bring all the money. Let's see what everything else goes for.

Didnt the red camaro that was originally a six cylinder go for 50K? I saw several cars that had SS badges stuck all over them and they were saying they werent true. And the mustangs, I thought I was going crazy for a few minutes or they were. What did the 81 vette with the heart transplant end up going for?

Overall, I thought the prices were much lower than in the past, but some of the cars going through needed some work (body work).

A 69 Mustang 428CJ Mach 1 just went for $45K and a 66 Mustang K code (HiPo) convertible sold for $60K. There was an 80 Vette last night with a transplanted ZZ4 420hp engine that went for $10K.

The "monopoly money" comes out tonight and tomorrow. That was a nice 65 350 horse roadster and sold pretty much where it should have.

Yeah! A SB 68 numbers matching vert with 105K on the clock just sold for $152,000. What's that about? Does this car have the frame stuffed with cocaine and the guy who bought it knows it or what?

Any info or pics of the red 68 SB vert that sold for 152,000? That is a HUGE number for that car.

Go to barett-jackson.com and select 2008 carlist, then friday and the list of today's cars will come up. Each one has a view button on the left of the lot number. It is a very nice 68 rag, but it doesn't seem to be anything "special".

Gawd,

That's big money for a '68 SB vert. I'd take 152K for my '68 BB coupe that's in above average condition right now.

You are missing an "R" in "barrett"

The correct web address is: barrett-jackson.com

A few people with more money than brains, get caught up in the hipe and TV cameras, each one wanting a car no matter what the cost because money is no issue.
