80s Pioneer Supertuner/cassette and 4x6 speakers in the kickpanel. Not too exciting. With the top down I can't hear it anyway. Just listen to the music of the car.
I have a simple but effective system, with a head unit, a very good set of front speakers in the kick panels, a single small sub in the rear, both amped, with proper sound deadening materials installed. This setup is far better to my ears than dash speakers, or even rear speakers. I have tried both in many cars and this simple setup is best in a C3 to my ears.
The pics below don't reflect the new sub and new box, and I hadn't dusted anything or loomed the amp wiring. Everything is new in the pics, just dirt and dust was picked up by the flash.
did a professional install these products or did you? do all the vettes have the front speakers where they are shown in your picture?
Who were you directing these questions at? If me, I personally installed everything in my car. Most Vettes have a stock speaker or speakers under the dash firing up at the windshield. The later C3s had an option for speakers in the kick panels, and rear storage area corners.
In my opinion, the dash, and rear corners are bad locations for speakers in a C3, and kick panel speakers, if done right, can sound amazing.
I've got 2 500 watt kenwood amps, one runs a 10" kicker sub, the other runs the two kick panel alpine speakers (not sure of wattage). I'm told the sony cd/mp3 setup I have (not sure of the exact model) should have enough juice to run the speakers, but the previous owner did this and I don't need to mess with it. It sounds great, but I'm not one to crank it all the way up and try to cause heartbeat irregularities , so I can't tell you how it sounds at full blast, or even if those amps would facilitate that. Can't post pics, but my setup is terrible, as it takes up the entire t-top storage area
350 cubic inch Chevy engine w/dual exhausts. Unless I'm just cruisin', that's all the "sound" I need.
I guess I'm just getting old. Rarely listen to music in any car. I'd rather hear talk radio if I turn radio on. On a bike or in a vette, the exhaust is music to my ears. Would rather spend that extra cash on some performance parts.
6x9 3 ways in the rear bar/box.
5.5" 2 ways in the kick panels
amped
It "immerses" you in sound. Vocals predominately in the front creating the "stage" that Durango Boy refers to with the rears filling the rest of the cabin.
Mine is pretty rudimentary. In the centre console I have the stock AM/FM 8-Track radio. It's wired into the Radio Shack equalizer you see mounted on the side of the transmission tunnel so if I feel inclined I can still listen to the stock radio. (I plan on finding a place to hind the equalizer so that the installation looks stock but haven't bothered yet) The equalizer has an aux input that I plug my Sansa MP3 player with FM radio into. The equalizer is then wired into the amps behind the passenger seat that are in turn hooked to the speakers you see in the back as well as upgraded 4X6s in the dash. The equalizer also has a sub-out going to the Bazooka sub you see in back. I kind of like the speakers in the dash, I find the sound stage more realistic with the sound playing more at my ear level than at my feet. The rears are set to a much lower volume just to add fill and the sub gives me bass which is essentially without direction. Nothing fancy about the install as you can see from the pics but the sound is quite good.
Clarion head unit, Alpine 4x6 speakers in the dash, Polk 5 1/4" (I think) in the back speaker loactions when I have the room a 10" Kicker sub box with Kicker amp, I don't know the wattage, the whole sound system came with the car. Not bad sounding, too bad the sub box takes up too much room, so I take it out when I need the extra room. Also as said above, sometimes the best sound is my modified 350 with headers and flowmasters. I can listen to either equally as long.
