When I start the car the headlights go up.. My checkvalve has a vaccum comming from the intake. Is this the wrong vacuum?. Do I need a new check valve?
When you start the car it has no affect on the headlights unless something is wrong with your switches. The engine is only a pump to pull vacuum. If the headlights are going up, it is probably one or two things. The headlight switch is bad or the override switch is engaged.
BTW - The check valve only prevents bleed down of the vacuum in the system.
This is all pending everything is plumbed correctly.
My HL switch is in and the OR switches are pushed in as well.
I dont know if its plumbed correctly.
Theres a vaccum from the intake going to the ck valve and two comming off the other side..
you should have an over ride switch down by your knees that is used to pop the head lights up with out turning them on so you can change bulbs or clean them, ect...
look for a long skinny **** (about 1/4"x1-1/4") down by your knees. can't remember which way is which, but push up or pull down on it and see if that fixes you problem. should be by your left knee.
The big line coming from the check valve goes to a storage tank to store vacuum. The small line goes to the switches. It usually splits under the dash for the wiper door. When you pull the headlight switch out it sends vacuum to the relay. The relay (vacuum operated) will signal the doors to open. The overide switch is between the headlight switch and the relay. When pulled down it does the same thing as the headlight switch, but does not turn the lights on.
Sounds like you are getting vacuum to the relays and it is opening the headlights. I assume the bulbs are not burning when you start the car.
