I am looking at buying a supposedly 'all-original' '77 for sale that has a blue dash, blue carpet, blue steering wheel grip and horn button, and then WHITE door panels and white leather seats (which do look to be weathered originals). Question: Could you get "two-tone" interiors from the factory in '77?
I'm not crazy about how it looks, but if it's original, I could live with it.
Thanks!
I don't think two tone interiors was an option. I have owned two 77's over the course of the years and have seen several others and none of them had mixed colors in the interior.

It wasn't very common but it was available.
Mine is like that with red instead of blue.

Excellent! Thanks for the response!
The price is reasonable ($8500), although the car needs paint, which, as we know can be pricey to do over right.
Thanks again to all who responded.
It could be factory, GM did that for a few years .... I have a two tone 76 similar to what you are describing except in firethorne/white. I have seen a few other vettes with this same type of combo (blue/white, tan/white). It's rare, but they are out there. All of them were mid 70's vettes with soft bumpers - not sure of exact years.

Yes, they were available in 76 & 77 as noonie & Jason said.
I looked at many 77s at the time & did not see any 2 tone interiors (would not have bought that anyway).
I have the 77 CORVETTE chart from CHEVY: Some combos were
"Available with White Seats, Door Trim Panels, Headlining, Front and Rear Garnish Moldings and Rear Quarter Trim Panels."
What's the trim tag say for interior code(s)? I've never seen any evidence of the factory doing this.
Possibly dealership work.
I've looked everywhere to see if GM ever did this, and can't find anything. Not saying it never did, just can't believe they would mix interior color's
Link to Corvette history, I trust this site is correct.

Not saying you aren't right, but this picture shows a custom steering wheel, shifter, FE, etc, etc so it doesn't really prove anything about originality.
GM did offer two tone interiors in 76 and 77. I believe red and white was the most common combination, but other colors were also available. EDIT: According to Corvette Central in 76/77 White/Red, White/Gray, White/Blue, and White/Black were the choices.

Thanks jn76,
for posting the photo. This is exactly like the one I'm looking at, except yours is red/white and the one I'm looking at is blue/white (and the different '77 steering wheel); right down to the carpet on the door panels being coded to the dash/carpet color (in your case red, in the case of the car I'm looking at, blue).
I believe now that it was available from the factory, regardless of the paltry evidence!
I don't believe it would have been a dealer option-going to such lengths to tear out factory seat covers/door panels to install white in their place? How much demand could there have been?
Now that I know this was available from the factory, I somehow like it a whole lot more; maybe because it was obviously ordered so rarely.
Thanks again!
Curiosity got the better of me and I did some further research. Both Licastro and Dobbin do mention that two tone interiors were available in '76 and '77 in their books. The seats, door panels and some trim pieces were available in white leather to contrast with the main interior colour.
They do not mention how this was ordered, what was recorded on the trim tag or who did the two tone.
If you think about it, they wouldn't have offered white carpets with a white interior. It's just not practical. I had a 64 Comet Caliente that had a "white" interior. The carpets and dash were red. That's how they did it in Detroit in the day. The Mustangs were the same. White or Parchment seating with contrasting carpet and dash.

How about that.
I thought I had read about the two-tone option in some of my 77 literature, noting that it was a rather obscure option. Nice to know that I'm not losing my mind.
I think those must have been the "disco" Vettes. [Interior matched their liesure suits.] {Actually, those 2-tone interiors were a bit less boring than one solid color.}
