Just remember your putting your life under that car, so the stands are worth every penny you spend.

If your not sure, your brain is telling you something.

I didn’t post the original post to call anyone out. I just bought 2 sets and in the safety instructions it states, “Rated capacity per pair only!” When I read that I thought I had bought a cheap set and was concerned. (I don’t want to be flat before my time) anyway I called a few of the parts places and all of them said that the ones they had were rated as a pair. Several people I have talked to didn’t realize how MOST jack stands are rated.
From what you said yours are not rated as a pair and that is great. I have lost a friend to a car crushing him and I just thought it was worth sending an FYI out to the people like me that don’t always read the safety instructions.

better safe than sorry, also, over the years the stress on these things take a toll on them also. Military requires a stress test on theirs every two years. I dont think most of us utilize them with the kind of weight the Army does or leaves them up on stands for very long lengths of time, unless you're talking about my car, I think the jackstands have grown roots in my shop its been on there so long!!!

all are made in china so probably doesn't matter unless someone has conclusive data on safety of each type

Anyone use Mr. Goodwrench jack stands? I just bought a couple of 3 ton sets. Price was good $19.99.

I go low tech wooden blocks for a reason and I am not talking about stacking up a bunch of 2x4's I mean big heavy 10 x 10 blocks. You have a larger footprint and you have a larger contact area with the car. Also steel on steel or steel on concrete is slippery where wood is not. Since lately I have been spending more time under my car than I have my wife I want to live long enough to enjoy the latter.

I have a set of big, heavy Michelin brand 6 ton jacks that I used under my 77 during it's 2.5 year on-and-off-suspension/brake/just about everything else rebuild. DB can testify to the fact that the car didn't move the slightest bit during that time.
