Default Fake LT-1 on Ebay?

Here's what causes me to doubt the authenticity of this car:

Engine pad suffix: CTR is listed in the black book and Chevy service records as LT-1 but Flint engine records show none were produced. No verified LT-1 is known to exist with a CTR suffix.

Transmission: M22 was only available on ZR-1s. All regular LT-1s had M20 or M21.

Engine compartment: Wrong radiator and shroud. Expansion tank.

Assuming the M22, radiator, shroud, and expansion tank are original to the car, is it possible that this could be a ZR-1 incorrectly restored?

Looks to be fairly legit. It still needs a lot of work to become top flight. I don't understand all the work put into it but it still has the old bushings and rubbers on the rear spring. It needs a lot of detail work to bring it up to top flight or NCRS standards.

Did they make a ZR-1 that year?

M-22 was available on a regular '70 LT-1.......friend in college had one, M-22, 4:11 gears, thought we had a ZR-1 until we noticed the lack of HD brakes. Tank sticker confirmed the LT-1. Wish he kept it!!

ZR1s did not come with ignition sheilding. Also look closely at the brake calipers. The ZR1s came with the dual pin J56 calipers, with power brakes. I doubt this is a ZR1 car.

You could get an M-22 on a regular LT-1 in '70.......

I thought M-22 only came with ZR-1 in 70? Could you get 3.36 rear with M-22? 3.36 was not available with the M-21 and LT-1. 3.36 was the economy option with M-20 with the LT-1.

It would be nice to see the number stamps and casting marks. I see a lot of work/money spent and yes there are a few incorrect items/finishes but nothing you could not fix with a little effort. A lot of things you will see wrong on restos are just a result of an incorrect restoration, not someone trying to fake anything. Unless you see something definately wrong that can't just be bolted on later in error you have to look harder to determine originality. JMO.

PRETTY CAR either way

-Mark.

Seems strange that with only 32k miles nearly everything on the car had to be replaced/redone.

This Corvette has gotten the attention of the NCRS TDB. All those who have viewed this Corvette agree that there is enough evidence that it is not the real deal. For all of the comments that you all have also made plus others that haven't been mentioned here about this Corvette go to this NCRS link:

yup...........as I said above, a good friend had one in college...........yellow coupe, only difference between it and a ZR-1 was his did not have the HD brakes (?) or something to do w/ the brakes. Stock M-22, 4:11 gears on it....I remember spinning the tires in 4th gear on that one..wow, what a car!

I hate to bust everybodies NCRS bubble, but most of the cars that left at that time if put in a time capsule would not score 85 points!

Also remember that anything goes was in order as long as the dealer had a connection.... aka copo who you know

Just if this was an oddity of epic porportions this would probably be the only one made and worth a heck of a lot more then 30

The thing that leads me to favor non-genuine are the miles that arent even very strait on a 30k car

expert opinion.... a barnyard clone

If you look at the picture that shows the BOTTOM INSIDE OF THE DRIVER DOOR you will see that there is a ton of bondo between the inside metal and the door skin (probably done to meet the door to the quarter) What a hack job!!!

CHECK OUT THE SAME PIC OF THE PASS SIDE AND YOU WILL SEE THE OBVIOUS DIFFERENCE

That's the kind of stuff I look for.

Not a very good invesment in my book!!!!! You can only imagine what else was hacked for the ebay sale

RRV,
You're not playing fair!!! You're just supposed to be impressed with the NUMBER of pictures, not actually look at them to see what story they tell. How's a guy going to sell a car with people like you around?
Regards,
Alan
