After reading a couple of threads I'm confused about the gas tank removal. Do you have to take the rear bumper cover off? I want to pull my gas tank and replace fuel lines, pump, and possibly tank, but my rear bumper cover is molded into the body so it doesn't have any seems. I'd appreciate any help.

No you don't have to remove the bumper. Best done with little to no gas. You'll want to remove the spare and maybe the carrier, then unbolt the cross member that has the straps fed through it. You can then move that aside, and start working the tank down. You'll have to disconnect the sender and power wire, and you'll have some hoses hanging on as you drop it.
I appreciate Durango boy. I knew it wasn't exactly easy ....
It was easier then I thought it would be on my '73. The biggest problem, and it was not mentioned above, is that you have to move the mufflers out of the way. I was able to undo the mounts and swing them far enough out of the way to get the tank out. Glad that I did not have to remove them.
