For those with broken clocks or just aren't sticklers about originality, if I were to create a compass that matched the look of the stock C3 gauges would there be any interest in such a thing if it was a factory look?
Basically it would look like all of the other needle gauges but instead of the face rotating like most in-car compasses, the face would be static and the needle would move, so N would always be on top, E on the right, S on the bottom and W on the left and the needle would point the direction you're going.

Would you make a version for both old style gauges and new style? Sounds like a very cool idea.

Possibly, the mechanics of it would be the same just a different face. I have to get all of the costs together, I built sort of a prototype using some clock parts (much larger scale, it wouldn't fit in the spot) to work out the gearing so the needle would move the way I wanted it to. I know of a couple places that could mass produce them to spec and make the faces and the whole nine, but I would have to do a minimum order of 500. So I wanted to see if there was any interest in the concept first then take it from there and see if the cost makes it worth it.
I personally don't see it being an item someone would pay $100+ for, but maybe if it was priced around $50...?

I think that would be a fine price but you'd be hard pressed to find 500 orders, even if you were the bulk of those 500 units.
Something else I though would be cool, was like a gauge that showed the car from the top, and LED bar meters on all four sides, that showed G-forces AS you were driving.

That would be slightly more complicated I think.
I've come up with a couple of ideas to fill the clock space though, the compass is the one I thought would be the "most wanted" of them but maybe I'm wrong.
1. Compass
2. Horizontal Tilt Meter (ie; how many degrees the car is leaning)
3. Altimeter (I don't know why, but for some reason I think this would be cool)
4. "Secondary fuel" (ie; nitrous level)
I've also thought about a replacement clock that looked factory but the adjustment **** also served the purpose of being a kill switch.
I replaced my clock with an innovate motorsports G3 air/fuel gauge. I put the reset switch in the hole for the clock setting ****. I added another small hole for the LED that indicates errors, etc. I did this by removing the clock, enlarging the metal hole where the clock used to be, and allowing the gauge to stick out the back of the panel. Before inserting the gauge I pealed off the aluminum ring that holds the lens on the gauge. This allowed me to remove the tinted lens. The gauge sits behind the original corvette panel lens and looks pretty darn good. At night the G3 is brighter than the other gauges, but I'm looking into a resistor to cut the voltage and upgrading the other gauge illumination to LED.
I would like to find a vacuum gage, to replace the clock.
(That looks orginal )
That would be very useful for all of us that have vacuum componets !

I think it's a neat idea, but it's also kind of an awkward location to read the compas while driving. I think that's one of the reasons the compas readout in the rear view mirror works so well.

I second a vacuum gauge. Even if your car had no vacuum components, it could be used as a fuel economy gauge and an indicator that things were well with the engine.
