Default Early chrome bumper Vette's with spoilers and front air dams

Okay guys,
If you have a splitter or front air dam on your your early C3, give us a pic....
Here's mine, a good weekends worth of sheet aluminum forming, and riveting and fitting and check fiitting but still a great experience!

Surprisingly, I noticed a lower engine temp. with all that air being thrown up ito the engine bay, and a little more downforce going around really tigh fast corners. (not that I've ever done that on the street.....)

OK, just to clarify: a "splitter" is a homemade tin spoiler?

Never heard the expression outside of a baseball pitcher.

I made my first one from sheetmetal...it lasted about 6 hours....I used plastic garden edging for this extension below...been on about two years now...thinking going another inch lower...it is 'bullet' proof..and it scrapes some parking exits..

I can't think of the user's name on here, but he has a yellow one with flares...if I remember correctly, he has a "NASCAR" style splitter on it and I think it looks really cool. I will see if I can track his name down.

There is a difference between a front spoiler and a "splitter". A spoiler is what the OP has posted. Splitters are mounted horizontally or flat, where as a spoiler is mounted more vertically to divert air over or around the car. If that makes any sense. here's what I mean.

I'm surprised how you guys seem to think it will be gone so fast....It's been over many speed bumps, hit many curbs and has stood up incredibly well, it has scraped over the ground a few times, but all in all, it is holding up way better than a fiberglass one would I think

Dunno...can't see it!! LOL

This is the car I am talking about, but as I see it now, its not what I thought it was. More of a "spoiler" vs a "splitter".

My first ones where more like 71vetteracers.....

Since then I went more down the #4 le mans car route as far as the frotn spoiler is concerned. Actually need to update pictures as these are 18 months old.

A splitter is just a horizontal leading edge to a front spoiler. It splits the airstream and as such minimizes turbulence and airflow detachment on the lower leading spoiler edge. The white car has a ricer's idea of a splitter, that thing is not horizontal. A nice lifting devide they created there. It looks racy so it must be helping....rriiiighhhtttt

.This Vette has the factory spoiler. .Believe me its under there but is black. Why would you want a ugly 'whatever' aluminum thing on the front of your Vette?...
