The 'wedge' bolt itself screws in and out so it's part of what positions the top panel front to back. The plate the 'wedge' screws into moves up and down and left and right a little, so it moves the corner of the top panel in those directions, too.

If you make any positional adjustments to the triangle bolt ie: mount plate up ,down, left, right, or bolt out, or in, you'll also need gently pry off the t-top inner liners and remove the two retaining screws for each one. Then loosen all other mount points as well just enough to be able to shift their positions. I just did this last weekend so there wouldn't be such a large gap between the t-tops. The triangle bolt should be 1/4 inch out according to the AIM and chassis repair manual.

That 'triangle' shape head fits into the 'V' formation built into the roof panel side edge area. You'll notice that there is a off white plastic piece that the head of the bolt will fit snug against, when positioned properly to fit that opening shape in the roof panel.
Dumb question, but is this adjustment similar for my 78? I have 1/8" gap between my NEW WS and its mating surface. Looks to me the panel needs to be pulled closer to the mating surface, but the handle on the roof panel is pretty tight and difficult to move already.
Your thoughts?
DODO,
I don't know about 78s for sure but I'd think the advice applies to your car too.
GD70 is right in saying ALL the adjustments need to be loosened to start the alignment. Otherwise I think you end up forcing the last corner into position.
