Default Headlight "up" adjustment

I am having a problem with my passenger side headlight. It pops up lower than the driver side. The bracket that the actuator attaches to has slotted holes, and I have adjusted it to get max "up" travel, but it still isn't enough. The stop screw is not contacting the outer part of the housing, so that won't help, either. I am beginning to think that the housing is bent or something. Am I missing something? I have an assembly manual, and the adjustment process outlined in it is not helping.

I think you need to open the clevis (the thing with the hole) that tread at the end of the push rod on the actuator.

Adjusting the clevis doesn't help. Once the linkage is locked out over-center, the length of the pushrod doesn't make any difference....Any other suggestions...thanks, all!

Is the headlight support that is attached to the fiberglass broken loose or rusted out on that side?

Nope. I just installed it in a new clip. It was the same way in the old clip. In the old clip, the front outside mounting bolt was broken off and the hole in the reinforcing strip on the front end did not line up. I had to "persuade" it to line up on the new clip (it seemed that the whole frame of the headlight assembly was tweeked). I am afraid to try to bend it because I think it is pot metal or cast aluminum. Anyway, it is installed now and seems pretty straight, but I can't get any more up adjustment out of the assembly.

Just a thought but maybe the driver side is too high (over extended)? Not sure what it looks like but maybe you need to lower the driver light to match the passenger?

You need "Headlight Viagra"!!! But if headlights remain in the "up" position longer than 4 hours, you need to consult your mechanic or injury may occur!!!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

The headlights when up usally have just enough room to remove the cover over the seal beams. If the high one is too high I agree to lower it.

That is an excellent point. The cover on the driver's side is just removable. The one on the passenger side is too low to remove. The lenses of the passenger headlights also point a little "down" and the lights on the driver side are aimed perfectly. Thanks for all the input!

I would say the housing may be bent. I have allways been able to fix them by unscrewing the clevis but you tried this I think. This is way too simple but the screw on the arm that is the upper stop is not out too far is it. This is the bracket bolted to the outside edge of the door with a bolt for adjustment.

I wish that was the problem. No, the adjustment screw is not even touching the stop. I think I may have to deal with one drooping eyelid until I figure some other way of fixing it! I am thinking maybe a salvage housing.
