I have seen a thread on here before where someone restored there emblems. I looked for the thread but can't find it. Can anyone who has done it give me some pointers?
I soaked mine in a bowl of Aircraft remover. I then rinsed them or all the paint and chemical, and let them dry. Then, I used a few tooth picks and some Testers paint to re-paint them.
Cost a few bucks at any hobby store and I really like the way they turned out.

DB,
I was given about 5 old emblems and would like to try this on them. When you said testers are you talking about spray paint or does it come in a bottle? I remember testers for model cars but cant seem to remember how it came.

Testors is sold both as a spray and bottled paint.

I used the bottle Testers, as it's a lot easier to control, and you won't have to tape off such painfully small areas.
That really looks good DB! - - and seems relatively simple to complete. I'd like to do my front emblem if I could get it off there to strip it... any ideas anyone? I assume it is glued on...
For you guys that have gone the hobby paint route, how has it stood up to weather and UV?
That would be my only reservation about using it, as its intended usages see much milder conditions.
Before and after; same basic treatment, strip and repaint with modeling paint, although I think I used Tamiya which flows really nicely. I used one of the diamond hard water-based clear coats after painting and it's holding up great. It sees some weather since my car lives in the driveway under a car cover which does let moisture through.
The credit for this should go to 7T1vette ... so PM him if you want more detail ... he used Pebeo Porcelaine paint purchased at Michael's stores ... Anthracite Black, White, and Scarlet Red ... after applying paint, it's baked on in your oven, so it may be more durable.
I have wanted to repaint my emblems for a long time ... but still need a few questions answered ... mostly having to do with the many shades of red.
So I don't steal this thread, I'll start another on that topic.
You know I was just thinking that on a black car, the unpainted look would be pretty freakin cool. Just polish it up, shoot a clear coat on it and mount it.
