Default '72 Vert Price Check

I just found a '72 with #'s matching and an auto trans. Top is said to be in good condition, as is the frame. It is fairly local to me so I will be able to inspect in person. Just wondering what it should be worth in real money, not NADA or KBB or Barrett Jackson!!!

It is listed with tilt/tele, A/c, P/s P/B. Not much more than that to go on right now.

Any ideas???

If paint and interior are nice and the A/C is factory and not aftermarket A/C, it should be a $25k - $30k car!
Without the A/C, it would be about $20k - $25k

A/C adds 5 grand to the value?

I paid 29 thou over three years ago for '72 BB Vert with both tops and all options. The engine number was matching but things like the carb (quite hard to find), was not. My car is the wrong exterior color (Mille Miglia Red and should be Sunflower Yellow, and I knew that. Interior is saddle.
With a little tidying up I got an NCRS Second Flight Award on two occasions and that's with the wrong color (loss of 170 points out of 4500).
The thing is how matching numbers is it, color, carb, dizzy, SMOG etc.
Hope this helps.

Best to get the NCRS Tech information and Judging Guide Edition 4, it's 35 bucks and worth every cent. If you have a question I can probably help.

Given the information above and without pics or more details I agree with the estimate here. Lots of factors need to be addressed.

A month ago I piked up a 72 Convertible, Red/w White hard top and soft top, black interior 4 speed 350/200 - no A/C, no tilt/tele. The car has 91K miles and has been very well taken care of. All the numbers match - from what I can see I believe it has been re-painted because of some overspray in the door jams. That still didn't stop me, I went to check her out 4 times in a week. She's in great condition and I felt I made a good deal. I paid 16.9

If the seller doesn't tout the "matching numbers" issue, then it probably doesn't have them. And if that's not a big issue to you, you can save a bunch of money. Proving that a car is all-matching is a big problem, all by itself. If NOT a matching numbers car, a '72 SB w/auto vert in very good condition would probably bring $15-19K at present; if it is a BB engine, $18-21. Working A/C would bring another $1-2K...unless it is an LT1 car. For original Lt1 add another $5-6K and if the [original] LT1 has original A/C with it, add another $5K.

You get the picture...if it has original status, the money goes up; if you buy a 'clone' with all the right stuff, it would be a very nice car to own and enjoy, but would cost a lot less. The choice is yours, depending on what you really want.
