Default '78 Door Spring and Armrest Door Pull Handles

Has anyone ever had any trouble installing the door hinge spring. I ordered the spring and special tool for the installation, but still can't quite figure out HOW to snap the spring into place without tearing up my door jam (I'm a lil skittish about muking something up.) Any suggestions on that?

Also, both armrest door handle pulls were not screwed in when I bought the vette. So, I thought to myself, "No problem...I'll order the Armrest Repair Kit from Eckler's and fix it right up!" Shoot! I can't get the screws to angle in the hole properly and tight. When I THINK the screw is in and snug--I go to pull on the handle and OUT pops the dang screw!

Thanks for any suggestions!

i dont know about the door spring, havent had to change mine yet.
but the door pulls, i've had mine off several times fixing items inside the door. i use an ice pick to find the hole first then hold it in place and insert the screw. off course after a few times mine did the same thing, pulled out, holes in door were worn out and oversized. a larger screw worked for awhile, but i ended up welding a small piece of metal over the hole and redrilling it to the correct size. fixed. also look at this
