I FINALLY got the intake back on the 68 that came w/the car this week.So far.....it falls all over it's self w/the 6 dueces dumping straight, but when it kicks in.....she's a rocket. That litttle DZ loves the rrrrs......,and takes off.I am waiting on progressive linkage, and should help alittle on the streetability....HOPEFULLY!!!!Everywhere I have read....these intakes are for racing only, and trailered show cars.I bought the car cause it was unique, and the intake is part of what makes it one only.... Toooo bad gas keeps climbing. Thank God for the better gas mileaged hoopty work truck!!!
In my quest for information....I talked to him, also.Nice guy.I run the 94 Holleys tho,so he wasn't alot of help there, but he has some nice setups available. The strombergs/97...the jets are ALOT easier to get to.My 94s...you have to take the carb apart to get to the bottom.
Kevin,
You know better than to start a thread without pictures.
I love the DZ motors and that induction system looks very
Rick
My bad Rick.......
These are from the other day when I was sending pics all over the US to try to get some tech support.....SHEESH!!!!!Not alot of people know about these. This is a org. Edelbrock X1 from the late 50s/early 60s.
Haven't cleaned her up yet,but will have her nice for the may 31st shindig @ Starved Rock!!!
And.....here's the culprit(intake wasn't on yet in this photo).
I'm glad to hear that set up is coming along. That has to be one of the most interesting intake and carb setups I've ever seen.
Sheer eye candy, and performance to boot!
John
Thanks John! It's taken me since early Feb. to finally get these carbs into someone's hands that knew what they were doing, and still need the progressive setup, but atleast it's on the car.
I took it to alittle car show last night(didn't put it in the show),and got alot of responses. Not many people have seen a setup like this. All this is "why" I chose this car to purchase.I'm into odd/unique things.Probably...cause I have always been alittle "odd, and unique" myself.
Are you coming over the 31st to Starved Rock?

No, I've been so busy this 'spring' (if you can call this spring) I haven't made any car shows yet.
My oldest boys girl friend is graduating that day, with a graduation party that afternoon/evening. We are friends with her family, and she's off to Purdue this fall so we're trying to make some of her events this summer. I keep thinking things will slow down a little, but it just keeps getting more hectic.
Don't know about odd, but I'd sure buy the unique description. That set up is eye catching, that's for sure.
