Cable running to steering?
Hey everyone, a quick question. There's a cable running to my steering column between the firewall and box that moves a tab back and forth on the column. What exactly does this do? I'm curious cause the other end of it isn't attached to anything. It runs from the column and is tucked in the frame right behind the drivers side tire. My car does not have power steering. I haven't had any problems with the steering. Any ideas?? its a '75.

if it is a manual transmission then it is probably the reverse lockout in which a manual transmission has to be in reverse to get the key out.. most people bypassed this in any way they could because it rarely worked for more than a year or 2.. maybe it used to connect to your transmission.. if you have an automatic, then I am all wet..??
