Default bad experience with the Paddock

Don't use the paddock for parts. Stick to the staples such as Corvette Central, Corvette America, VolVette, and Ecklers.

I ordered a Hurst shifter kit from the Paddock over 2 and a half months ago for my 72. Called several times since the web account said it was on back order. The first call, customer service said typical back order was 4 to 5 weeks. I was coming on to the fifth week and decided to give it some more time. It was supposed to come in the first or second week in April. Well, that date passed and the web account was updated to say first week of May. I called around a week before it was supposed to come in. I asked customer service if I should cancel the order and go with some one else. They said that If I cancel and no one else had it, if I were to go back with them I would be put in the back of the line. Well, I have little time to start calling around during the day, since I work for a living and I usually don't get home till later in the day when most people are closed or the tech support are gone to advise me. So I waited, didn't come in. Called them again. This time customer support seemed concerned. put me on hold, called their supplier, the supplier said they just got a shipment in and they had never recieved a Purchase Order from the Paddock. Customer Service said they would get it straightned out. They took my number and said they would call by Wednesday. I am thinking that now they would get the PO in. I noticed on the Web account there was a section that had you could put a PO in. I waited again until Wednesday. The Item had passed it's back order date and no PO was inputed into the account. I called Customer Service. This Time I was beyond Mad. It had been 2 and a half months and I was thinking, I could have had that shifter kit for my muncie and could have had the transmission back in the car. I called, Customer Service said it was on back order. I flew off the handle. I knew no one was doing their job at this point. I told her to get the Manager. I got nasty with the Manager. I wanted a refund, she said she could put it in but would not clear for 2 days. I told her I didn't care and gave her the story. She said who did I talk with. I said that was unimportant, what was important is I put an order in, the back order status just kept being adjusted and no one put a PO in. I place my order and I should expect you take care of me as a customer. She said she could call their supplier the next day since they are closed. I said no, Customer service already called and found out the PO was not given to them. She said it would take 2 days. it had to clear in their system. I told her OK but if I did not see a a refund (yea they already had my money, via credit card but didn't give me my order and seemed to really not care) there would be Hell to pay, started going off. She hung up, updated my account. My wife called her back. They talked. the manager told my wife I was cussing at her. Wife said what do you expect, he ordered this from you back in the beginning of March, you didn't put a PO in and no one cared enough to follow up and fix the problem before this happened. The manager said we don't want your business anymore. Wife said fine, you didn't want it to begin with since you never put the paperwork in to you supplier so we could get what we needed. I am calling the BBB next. I have always had excellent service with the staples of the resto business.

I feel you should be able to send them a bill for your time and effort as well as 2 and a half months not being able to drive your car. Sometimes there has to be a consequence for incompetance.

The important thing now is to make sure you got credited on your charge card. If not, get in touch with your credit card company and have them do a charge-back so you get your money back.

Did you check with any other vendors to see how readily available the shifter kit you wanted was? If several other vendors have them in stock, you most likely did get jerked around. If no one has them, and they really are on back-order everywhere, then it sounds like their customer service still was not up to par.

You were pretty patient waitng 2-1/2 months before complaining.
