Radiator date codes

I purchased an original radiator that will fit a 69 thru 72 small block 4 speed car.

There is a removable metal date date with MK9 on it.

Can some one explain how that code is read?

Hi David,
I assume you're talking about a copper radiator? Is the tag on the passenger's side tank? The MK could be the broadcast code ( is it embossed? ) used by the worker on the line to identify the proper part to put on the car. Some times there's a part number stamped on the same tag. I need to search a little to find something about the '9'.

My 71 has a copper radiator with the MK9 tag. The NCRS judging book doesn't say anything about dates on copper radiators ONLY on aluminum ones.
