Our neighborhood is crawling with possums, raccoons and skunks. Several years ago one of our cats, a very aggressive tom, got into it with a possum. He came away with some pretty deep wounds that took months to heal completely. The possums walk the tops of the fences around the neighborhood at night. Drives the dogs nuts. My Husky/wolf mix keeps banging the fence with her body trying to knock the little devils off into the yard. She "succeeded" with a skunk a while back.
We also have rats that run thru the trees and on the tops of the fences. Scavanging fruit and such. Dog got one last night doing the "shake the fence" thing. She kills one and 5 more show up to replace it....Never ending story

One of my kids once went into our garage to open a cardboard box and get a toy. She leaned down, opened the box, only to the a possum staring at her and hissing. She came running back out front pale as a ghost! We dragged the box around to the side of the yard, pushed it over on its side, and Henry O'Possum ran out and into the bayou area.
That episode has become semi-legendary in my daughter's mind!
You have not lived until you have lived in a pier and beam house and two skunks get into a fight under your bedroom at night lol. I guess one can get used to the smell lol.
detroit rats are huge..... they look like a sack of potatoes laying on the side of the road..... tails about 24" long...... and considering that the river is close and it's a shyt hole here...man......

Come on down to South Texas where everything bites you or pokes holes in you. I can introduce you to some Mountain Lions,Some friendly Wild Bore Hogs and those pretty Diamond Back Rattlers that run around these parts lol. Not to mention all of the cactus, thorn bushes, thorn weeds,

Where I live, a lot of building, brushing of the land has made it difficult for these animals to survive, with their homes and habitat being destroyed. My neighbors may not be happy with the way our property is kept, but somebodys got to look out for these creatures. I've let my yard grow wild so they have a nesting place and home, installed water fountains and generally provide a habitat that allows the deer, fox, rabbits, skunks, racoons and so on to survive.
They don't seem to bother the Corvettes...can't say the same thing about the two legged mammals.
Early Shark that is great to hear. Too bad so many people are scared and do not understand wild life. Some would rather destroy it then let it live.
I wish more people understood wild life and wild life conservation. When I am hunting I let the Bob Cats and Mountain Lions be as they play an important role in keeping things in balance.
a bat came down a started fluttering in my head.... this was when i was watching the 4th of july fireworks..... i'm sure all the explosions discombolated his senses....hahaha
