Before using POR 15 can I just powerwash the metal? Only have the Por 15, not any other pre stuff, therefore I was just going to use engine degreaser and powerwash, then let dry and apply with a brush.
BE CAREFUL POR 15 only sticks to Rusted metal...or treated metal. I would treat the metal with an Etch Like Rust Mort then wash the rust mort with water let dry then paint it with POR 15
Hopefully others more knowldgieable will chime in, but I think you're ok. I've used it on parts that were preped according to their instructions and it worked very well. I've also used it on parts that were washed in a dishwasher and still rusty. Worked fine on them too.
My understanding is that grease and oil will prevent proper adhesion. If you get that off, you should be ok. Testing in a less visible area might be a good idea though.

Just do it when your wife isn't home
I suggest you follow the prep on the por15 instructions. I personally hate the stuff, but if I were you, I'd get the correct prep products that they sell and follow their instructions.
It can work if you apply thicker coats. I prepped it with metal ready after i degreased and power washed it. I have used it on off road stuff before and it worked pretty good without a prepping solvent. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1936313
Thanks for the info everyone, I forgot to get the metal ready or prep stuff and I need to do it this weekend since it's the only available time I have, so I'll just degrease it then power wash it and keep my fingers crossed.
I'm sure if I called there tech support there standard answer would be.....for best results use the recomended procedure as listed on our web site. If you don't follow the proper procedure then the results may not be as desired, therefore warranty will not be valid.
