Default Fuel Sending Unit

I am going to replace the fuel sending unit in my 71 in the next couple of weeks and wanted some opinions on which unit I should go with. A GM unit goes for a little over $100 vs. about $65 from Wilcox. or other repo. I would usually go with a new GM item, but not sure the extra $$$ is worth it.

I've read that the reproduction senders are not so good. Since it's the kind of thing you only want to change once, I'd go GM.

Alan

my experience is that the repros are not as accurate as the OEM.

Default I Just replaced mine along with the Fuel Tank on my 72

I got the same unit from wilcox, works great. I also put in new strainer filters on the sending unit.

Also you need to use new o rings when you install it back to the tank. 1 trick is to use adhesive to position the o ring in the proper place when you are installing it back to the tank. I had to learn this the hard way. I spent about $80 and has not seen a leak for over a month.
