The first thing i do when i buy a vehicle is remove all the dealer decals, they didn't give me that good of a deal to advertise for them. The corvett i just bought (82) has the original decal located at the back right below the CORVETTE emblem and of course it's attached with screws. What are my options besides filling and repainting. Thanks
No Corvette had original dealer anything on them. Anything with a dealer's name on it was added by the dealership after the car was delivered.
The only stock item on the tail of an 82 is the CORVETTE rear letter kit. The stock rear bumper cover is urethane. You can purchase a urethane repair kit to fill the holes the dealer add on will leave behind.

Remove it carefully, use mild rubbing compound or polish to get rid of the outline left by the plaque, fill the holes/pits (you may want to mask off the holes so you don't have to paint anything else), smooth the fill-job, and use touch-up paint like you would repair a rock nick.
I'm not a fan of the dealer emblems either BUT, as others have said if it's from the original dealer and you can pull together some original dealer info then I'd leave it.
My car (thankfully) did not have a dealer emblem on it but the dealer is still in business - Ferris Chevrolet in Stow Ohio. I did some research and contacted them for any history they might have on the car. They responded that they did not maintain any records from that far back but they sent me a key chain and license plate frame.
Once or twice a year, when I show the car with the right crowd, I put on the license plate frame and use the original keys with the dealer key chain...makes for a pretty cool display with the build sheet, dealer delivery paperwork, etc. So I guess it depends on where you are with your car.
One last thought, it will be a pain to remove, fill and then paint to match that bumper. Good luck and congrats on the '82.
