Default Sidepipe Spiral baffles

Can anyone tell me what the turnaround time is for the Spiral baffles? I wanna order a set and im wondering how long I have to wait after the order is placed.

also, can anyone give me an idea of how loud they are, via comparison to something. Im stepping up my game from the lame hooker baffles and i want an idea of what im getting into.

Had mine from Jim in 48 hours to my door.
Of course it depends what his stock looks like.
Give Jim a call.
Really great guy.
Phone number is on his website.

They're not as loud as I expected.
I had Flowmasters out the rear before and the JCL Spiros are not as loud.

My 18" X3" sprials aren't nearly as loud as I thought they'd be. Years ago I had a '63 SS with a 409. I had an original set of Cherry Bombs glass packs on. Even though the '63s exhaust shot straight out the back, it was considerably louder from the drivers seat than the '76 is with side pipes and sprials.

If you remove the center cap they are loud. The only complaint is the metallic sound at idle. Glass packs have a better sound to me but rob performance. BTW don't drive threw parking structures as you will set of many car alarms.

Jim was a great guy to work with. I was local so I just picked them up from him. He was more than happy to work out a pickup time that fitted my schedule.

They're the perfect volume level.

Let me know if this link doesn't work.

Dean, did you bolt the baffles in? I just dropped mine in on the first go and they did rattle a bit. The second go I jammed the baffles in and then drilled and bolted the front. No more rattle.

I don't have any rattles my baffles I made myself in stainless steel and machined them to fit tight in the side pipe tubes. The tinny sound is audible sound that others hear with there baffles also.

is it common to have some play in the baffles that causes rattling? really dont want to have to drillinto the pipes to put any sort of stabilizer screw. Oh and if you have facebook that video is pretty cool. Nothing like having a vette in high school. sure made those kids in bimmers feel a little less cool

You need to give Jim a call. The baffles he makes fit incredibly well within the sidepipes. They're all jig-assembled, so the tolerances are very precise. However, just from the flow if the exhaust gasses, they could spin or rattle. He supplies the hardware mounting kit and very detailed instructions included with every set. It really wasn't a big deal. Just mask off the area you are drilling to avoid scratches from the shavings coming out. If you mount them properly, the only way you can see the hardware is if you are under the car.

I’m surprised with that 454 that the baffle stayed in the tube without being bolted in. It must have pushed back at least to the elbow in the tube.
Let me know if you did not get the mounting instructions and hardware with your baffles a little lady packs them and I don’t think she’s missed one yet.
I am thinking your side tube maybe out of round a little if you had to jam the baffle in the tube. ( most thin wall tubing will be out of round ) we do check all the baffles for fit before we ship them.

Vette baffles are about 18 inches long.

They also make shorter versions for street rods.

There is a slight "echo" or "ping" sound at idle. I can hear it in mine when the cam lopes. Only at idle though.

No, they are not loose-it is not a rattle. The design creates a ping sound at idle. Only noticable if you listen for it.

They sound their best at higher RPM.

I will say they breath very well.

Did you drill the 3/8 hole?Mine are loud like I want them to be and could be louder if I wanted them to.I drilled a 1/2 inch hole cause the were mild without drilling anything.I got my set in about 3 days after placing the order.
