Long story short. I removed my defective power brake booster on my 73 on Saturday and found that it was a replacement unit. When I released the clevis pin, the pedal sprung back some (don't know how much). I measured the length on the old booster from the back of the mounting plate to the back of the clevis and it is shorter than the least that I can adjust the one on the hydroboost.
Can someone give me the length between the back of the booster to the centre of the clevis pin? I can do this by tiral and error but don't enjoy working under there very much
Are you saying the length is longer on the Hydro than the vacuum booster? Mine was the other way around. The stock setup was longer and the pedal was a lot higher than on my Hydro.
Your pedal position is totally a comfort thing. When I ditched my vacuum booster for the Hydrobooster I was able to get the pedal closer to the floor where it was more comfortable for my leg. You get more room under the steering wheel and you can brake using your heel on the floor and toe pressure only. I found it a lot easier with the pedal adjusted down.
Yes, the length will be longer for the hydroboost than the booster that was in there. I know that the booster that was in there was not stock so I don't have a frame of refference for what is reasonable.

Well all I can say is my Hydro pedal height is lower than stock height, so just install it with the clevis in as far as it'll go and still hook up correctly. Don't install the clip on the pin, just slide the pin in and check the height with you in the car. You'll probably find it comfortable if it's anything like the pedal height i have with the clevis at full extension.
