So lets see okay they should give chase to the point of killing people. The headlines could read but would not include a few details. THREE DIED TODAY WHILE AN OFFICER GAVE CHASE TO GIVE A NONE COMPLIANCE INSPECTION STICKER VIOLATION. But the Officer did live but will never walk again and will have to remain on a colostomy bag for the rest of his life but he did get the fine for the ticket as well as evasion to arrest for the corpses.

Next one. CITY SUED FOR WRONGFUL DEATH AS WELL AS POLICE OFFICER THAT GAVE CHASE.
And the city will have to pay for said Police Officer for the rest of his life to support his family. And fix and pay to repair everything that was destroyed during the chase. Is all this worth the price of a simple ticket.
The lives of people and hard earned property mean a bit more to me than the revenue that may be generated by a ticket.
Ok what the heck I will give just one maneuver that I helped the local Police Driving Instructor with for instruction as he never heard of it as well as others. The people that know this one have been there and done that and will not talk about it lol.
In all training for most people since drivers ed people were told that if the back of your car starts to come around steer into the slide and this can work depending on how fast you are going. At times you can go to the point that no matter how aggressively you steer into the turn the car will either keep going sideways till it hits and object or stops or slowly spin around uncontrolled. So lets say you are in a turn a bit too fast and your back end comes out and you know there is no way to correct the turn with a simple counter steer then what you would do is steer into the turn and bring the back end around with control till you are backwards with the street you are going down or the direction you wish to take. Then you simply swing the front end back around the right direction and keep going. It sounds a bit more simple that what it is but then again it is not hard but one does have to have a knack for such things and the nerve to commit and follow through.

File Picture?
Hate to see innocents get hurt. Hate to see criminals get away to continue their ways too.
That guy made lots of bad decisions during his run (maybe before, also?). Poor car. It adds to an image I'd rather not promote if some folks want to associate fast cars [not just Vettes] with bad drivers.
Besides, i've had the crappiest luck outrunning cop radios! LOL.

If it was serious like a kidnapping in progress then I could see not backing off, or stolen car.
My older brother about 10 years ago was in S. Carolina and his gf just ended their relationship w/ him. He was racing back to N.Y. pissed off in his 78 vette doing 80 mph about 1 a.m. when he passes 3 cops shooting the bull at a closed ice cream shop. He said they took off after him and he went up and over a small bridge and pulls over.
He said a few seconds later the first cop flies over the bridge, see's him and slams on the brakes, second cop came up and over, smashed into the first cop, then the third cop did the same thing hitting the first two cop cars
He didn't think after that he was leaving there alive
He got his ticket and was on his way. I think these no chase laws are a good idea in some circumstances. From the sound of the injuries seems this guy and girl learned the hard way not to run, esp. on a gravel road
Talk about slowwwwwwwwwwwww

its law in some states not to give chase but to just radio ahead to other officers to set road blocks or spike strips etc..
