First you need to tell me what year the car is. Open the door on lets say a 1970 it will say Chevrolet F 19 ( June19, 70) this is only for that year 1970's were unique due to the strike.
If the car is a 1971 built in June like the above the plate would read
K 19.
That is because the usually started the model year in August which would be A, September would be B and so on.
My car is a 1971 L15 built on July 15 (12 months from August (A))
I think you may have an extra number in the VIN (the "5" before the "S"), however, I take it you have a 1968 Convertible, Mid production, late January 1968. remember, 68's started production in late Aug, Sept of 67.....those, up to Oct or so, are cosidered "early". Check the ID tag on the inside driver door, front jamb, for the exact date (body date).

Your correct I did add the 5 , there is No # 5 . On the door plate was uder Chevy is a F 30 , then the trim paint number 411 , then the paint number 411. I know the interior id dark blue , and the paint is international blue. What is the F 30 mean ?
the "F" is January of 1968 and the "30" is the day of final assembly usually when the body and chassis were joined together thats when the trim tag was affixed to the car.
