Are the various dyes/paints practical to change interior color? Granted I'd have to replace the carpets, but for the window trim, console, can I get a decent finish that would last and not look like crap six mounths later?

I'd like to go to a black interior....

Thanks
John

Interior vinyl dyes are used to change color of plastic parts (door skins, vinyl seats, kickpanels, dash pads, etc. You can get it at any auto paint [professional] supply store. I have used SEM dyes and they are easy to use and cover well. Parts must be very clean...especially if they have had Armor-all or similar product applied to them. You can buy the dye in spray cans, buy a Preval bottle/cannister spray set, or use your own spray equipment to apply it. Dye is what was put on your interior parts 30+ years ago...it should work just fine now. [If you have leather seats, use leather dye.]

dupli color paint looks great, its what i used on mine. comes in a lot of corvette colors but since your doing black that's not a concern.

also you can dye your carpet

Dupli-Color paint is....paint! Vinyl dye is....dye! They are not the same thing [regardless of what anyone else tells you].

Thanks. I'll be getting new door panels, carpet, and upholstery, but there's a lot of other colored panels in there that would be expen$ive to replace. Will try the dye route.

Thanks for the advice. I'm sure I'll have lots of other dumb questions as I get further.
