Cant seem to figure out why my power locks have stopped working. I have restored my 81 only thing now is my power door locks have stopped working. Seems like no power to them.Where do i start looking, have tried replacing switch.Cleaning ground on pass door.I did remove the seat belt buzzer relay and didnt put it back. But other than that .thats all i eliminated. Thanks for any help.
the wires in the plastic terminal on eash door has about 5 wires running to it. One of the wire inside the door had rusted into. A little soder and mine worked again in my '82
Maybe Sixfooter will chime in...he's an expert on this stuff. Isn't there a power door lock relay that might have gone bad?
No only a power door lock actuator buryied inside the door panel. Check to see if the wires that plug into the connector that plugs into the switch has frayed wires. Each side has an orange wire and that brings power to the switch.
Also, both sides must be connected for either side to work. So if you've only checked passenger side, check the driver's side.
You can check switch functionality by using a testor or volt meter and measuring the voltage spike when you activate the switch. touch ground and than use red on a switch terminal (bare wire), flip the switch and watch for the spike on the meter. Get's a little tricky as you're multi-tasking here but helps to isolate a troublesome switch/connector
