Yes but you need to make sure the console is as far forward as possible.
The center unit pushes down on the forward part of the console pushing it backward. That's why pretty much all of the console trim plates have dents in them.
What you may have problems with is the Hurst shift rods being too long. I had to trim about 1/4 inch off one of mine to clear the emergency brake pulley mounting bracket.
I installed one last year on my '70. I hated to do anything non-stock, but the difference is night and day. I never knew if I was going to be able to get into second with the old worn shifter. Now it's click, click, click. I did save the old one just in case someone felt like fighting with it in the future. Didn't have the problems others on the board have had. Just followed the installation directions! You'll be glad you did it.
