took my wheels off my 76 and painted the calpipers rustoleum bright red, also painted my shocks blue, but might do the lower half yellow after this week's show (two weeks to next one, five weeks to Midwest in Valpo). with the factory aluminum wheels it looks good.
While your doing the calipers go to a local sign shop and have them make you vinyl stickers in the font you want. Cheap, maybe cost me $15 for a whole sheet (think it was like 8 stickers)
Looks great if you can see your calipers thru your wheels.
Just make sure all the paint you use can handle the high temps or you'll be doing this over real soon.
I plan on painting mine also.
But as you can see, it might be down the road a bit. Great idea about the stickers. Never thought of that. I might have to incorperate that idea on mine also. Thanks for sharing.

So did you clear the stickers after you applied them or what?

Nope. I was not pleased with any clearcoats. I used a clearcoat on my half shafts and it either pealed off or yellowed. I tried a few different kinds of clearcoat and none worked very well. Throw the heat of the calipers into it and I didn't want to take that chance.
I cheated a bit, got the calipers powdercoated red by VBP then put the vinyl stickers on them and used POR-15's white high temp engine paint for the lettering. No clear coat. Looks great. You just have to be careful pulling the sticker off after you painted the lettering. An exacto knife and tweezers helps.
You can easily paint them yourself with high temp paint. POR-15 red engine paint would work.
You will have to grind off the "DELCO" embossment on the caliper for the stickers too really work and seal to the caliper surface so when you paint over it the paint doesn't run underneath. Or you could paint the white first then put the stickers down "lettering only" and paint the outside red. Your call.
Little patch work to cover the grinded area. Barely noticable once it dries and the lettering is applied.
