Thanks Chevy69!
Glad to be in the club ; )
So it being completely original aside from paint and exhaust system, what would my priority list be for replacements?
I'd like ot drop a new crate engine in, add a tranny with o/d and replace the shocks and struts.

From: GA "When I grow up, I'm gonna get a Trans Am and run from the cops". Direct quote from my 4yo son.
Congrats on the car!! I think you got a good deal on it. Just be prepared to spend money on her. Just when you think there is nothing else you want to do....there is!!
heh heh thanks guys
Yeah deffinetly prepared to drop money on her in a contious stream. I figure why stop upgrading ever? There's always something to add or tune up. Theres no rust or rot, frame and birdcage are mint.
Congrats and welcome. Someone in the forum said something like this, and I wish I could remember who so I could give him the credit, "This is a hobby not a job". So when I'm replacing something or cleaning something up and I get the discourages or// my wife gives me static because "your taking it apart - again ?" I always remember that comment and say "Yup - thats right - this is my hobby not a job".
My opinion on your first priority - line up your tools. Find out who has an air compressor, pneumatic impact wrench, pneumatic grinder and a socket set that goes above 1". Become friends with them. They will become very inportant to you. Congrats again!
when you get it (and I'm not picking on your ride here).. check the tire size. Maybe it's the pictures on my monitor but they look a little small. Like 14" instead of 15". The wheels offset suggest to me they might be Camaro wheels.
dont fret it though, like I said, could just be the angle on my monitor.
I've had my red 81 since 1995. Its a family member now. Enjoy your Corvette!
I have seen that car before in Port Jefferson a few years back when I would visit my mom in Farmingville NY. Looked a little rough and alittle loud but that was before the new paint job and new exhaust. Looks good now. I wish you luck. Enjoy.
Welcome! Nice first vette.
Don't rush to change anything to the car unless it's safety related at this point. Since this is a pretty original car I'd keep it that way for now. Get to know it. Drive it as much as possible.
Over time your priorities swill change.
Make two lists:
What I want to do (eventually)
What needs to be done.
Good luck with it!
Glenn
I also noticed the wheels looked a little small. Something to deal with down the road.
Yeah I'll check into the tires. Those are the original seats from '78, full interior is original.
GD70, I live in croton not 10 minutes away from peekskill.
And Robmerril, you've seen it around? thats pretty cool. Yeah the new paint and exhaust should take care of that.
