I'm removing the body from a 77. Got all th bolts out with no problem except the rear ones. It apears I will have to replace the body mounts at the rear, bolts wrung off and badly rusted.
Does anyone know where I can get these mounts? They are riveted to the body.
As you can tell, One bolt broke off, and the other I had to cut in half to get the body off. I am facing the same issue. You are not alone. I will have to remove mine off the body to do the repair.
The part that you see in the above post is a body mount reinforcement. The ones on my 72 had rotted and I just received new ones from Zip last week. If your reinforcements aren't rusted there is no need to replace those, provided the bolt comes out easily. There is a caged nut inside the car that will have to be dealt with if the bolt is frozen. I believe the reinforcement will need to be removed if the caged nut has to be replaced since the cage rivets are covered by the reinforcement. The reinforcement rivets are aluminum and grind off very quickly so it's not hard to get the reinforcements off.
The hard part is resisting "the while I am it" syndrome. I started with the body mounts and have since transitioned into a full restoration. Good luck!
