Hey guys, I have recently purchased an lt1 powertrain for my 76. only problem I can really see of right now is that the tranny sends a digital signal to the speedo while the speedo is mechanical. Needless to say it will not work. Can anyone tell me what I should do to fix this? I know they make electric to mechanical conversion cables, but I do not know where to find them, if they work well. Can anyone recommend a good yet affordable one, or if they make a retro looking gauge that looks like it belongs in the car but is actually electric that would be even better. I am completely lost on this one, any help would be greatly appreciated. Iam sorry, it's been brought to my attention that I did not mention that it is an auto tranny.

Give S&P a call. I believe you are going to need to change the tail housing on your tranny for one that both has the mechanical output as well as the VSS for the ECM. Unfortunately, if available for your tranny (you didnt' say 4spd or auto) I believe they are around $400. They may have some other solution or someone else may have a better idea.

I think this may be what you're looking for.... Can't comment on if they work well, but I would think they should, plus have the advantage of being able to "tune" the ratio without changing gears.
