Default c3 overdrive

How difficult is it to swap a 700r4 into a c3. With the price of gas, overdrive would be great for crusing and keeping OPEC out of my wallet.

There is an 82 crossmember and driveshaft on that auction site now.
Don't forget to consider the 200 4R.

What is the difference between the 700r4 and the 200r4?

The 2004r bolts right in. The 700r4 you need to cut modify the crossmember and have the driveshsft shortened. The gear spacing is diffrent between the two. I use he 200 in my 77 and it is fine for me.

thanks for the input guys. Will a 200r4 stand up to 450 hp and 430 torque if it's built right?

Does anyone know of an aftermarket cross member for the 700 r4?
Seems like I read an article in Corvette Fever on a overdrive swap but can't find my issue.

Talk to the guys at BTO (bow tie overdrives) they can get you everything you need. I just done the 200R swap and love it. I have a 383 pushing around 425 hp and should have no problems.

Is there a net link to BTO and where are they located?
I'm sure with a 383 you will have more torque than my 355 Mighty Mouse.

That would be quite a cruise from Georgia just to swap lies.
