Default 1963 Fuel Injection Problem

HELP. I am a new member and just posted a question, but failed to request instant e-mail notification,so here goes again. As I stated, I own a 63 FI Vette, NCRS,Duntov, etc.car, that will not run properly. I start it, drive for 10-15 miles, then idle it for 5-10 minutes. Next, when I give it gas to move it ,it sputters like it is flooding and cuts off and will not restart until it cools off. Some one told me that it may be boiling the fuel but Shell high test with octaine boost does not help. I live just south of Atlanta, Ga. Can any one out there help me? Thanks, Frank

Here is a link to the thread you started in C2. Simply click on the drop down menu that says 'Thread Tools' in the red bar just above your first post. You'll click on it and get a few option. The bottom option is 'Subscribe to this Thread.'

You can then choose what type of notification you want...if any, and click 'Add Subscription.'

Also, by clicking on 'UserCP' you can go to your control panel, and under the control panel options on the left you'll see 'Edit Options.'

The fourth section down in bold print will be 'Default Thread Subscription Mode.' It's a drop down menu that will allow you to set it to instant email notification, or whatever you want.

Also, when you get subscribed, all threads that you subscribe to or post in will be listed in your UserCP. A new post in a thread will update that list. If you view a thread on that list but no one posts for a few hours it will disappear from that updated list but it will still be on your subscription list which is found just to the bottom of that last.

As far as your problem, have you checked your fuel filter? Sounds kind of like junk is accumulating in the filter clogging it as it runs.

It could also be the pickup in the fuel tank.
I had a 84 firebird that did the same thing,
ended up being the fuel pickup sock in the
tank. (It was clogged with dirt)

Just a heads-up, if you use STP Octane Booster and ever store the car, don't put Stabil fuel stabilizer in the tank with it. The combo reacts and will cause the injector and other seals in the FI unit to basically break-down and the motor will run as you described.

I made that mistake one year and you also wouldn't believe the smell coming out of the gas tank after sitting all winter. It was putrid. I drained and flushed the tank after rebuilding my FI unit.

Probably nothing to do with your current situation but consider it a heads-up.

Thanks for all the input from members. Does anyone know of someone who knows about these problems and lives close that can come here ( Locust Grove/ south of Atlanta) to help work the problems out. I do not know what I am doing, but will be glad to pay someone to fix this. Thanks, Frank

You may want to post your question on the C1-C2 forum. There's lots of guys over there that know about Rochester FI.

A good friend of mine owns a Corvette shop in Fayetteville. He is good with all Corvette mechanical issues. Call 770-461-5211, ask for John.
