Like you, I knew absolutely NOTHING about engines, so years ago I bought a 78 in desperate need of repair and a Haynes shop manual. I completely rebuilt the engine in my garage with the step by step instructions in the manual, put it all back together and it fired right up. I sold the car (young kids and no money kept me from taking on the rest of the car) but kept the manual, and still use it today for my 68.

Thanks - just curious how long did your rebuild take?

Your 68 looks good. Nice car. That was my original model year when I started my quest in the spring.
