Default bumper warping

the right side of my bumper on my 81 keeps warping and the heat gun trick wont fix it, it keeps coming back. the center of it comes up 2 1/2 inches. any tips or tricks for fixing this. i used a heat gun, c clamp and some small lengths of plywood on the left side and it worked just fine. the bumper is a gm replacement.

sorry for who ever's pic this is but i don't have a camera right now.

I guess one thing you could do is get some urethane bumper repair material and a piece of stainless steel flat stock. Drill some holes into the stainess bar and grind the surface with 24 grit. Bend it to the arc you want to achieve. Prepare the underside of the front bumper and then apply the urethane repair, the stainless bar, and then clamp into place. It won't get you to NCRS, but one method of making a permenant fix.

that same thought had crossed my mind, ill try that if it doesn't work this time. i figured ill try the heat gun one more time and use a different method for holding it down and keep it held down for about a week as apposed to the 12 hours i was giving it. im so close to having this car primed, stupid little things like this keep holding me up...and bad weather reports.

Welcome to the club. The rear wing on my 80 is "wavey"-- no way to avoid that with the combination of urethane and heat from the sun over a lot of years. I just decided to replace mine with a new fberglass piece. Sent my order in today to Vanacor's Corvette Parts.

that's my fear...well my fear is that it will crack the new paint. this bumper came like this from gm. they said "its fine, just heat it up and clamp in in position and it will be fine" i would love to buy a fiberglass one but i just don't have the money right now.
