Default Temp sending unit wire color

With the help of the assembly manual and a mirror I finally found the engine temperature sending unit on my 79; however, since the PO left a couple of wires unplugged I'm not sure which one goes to the unit. Chilton's appears to vote for green and given the length of the wire that seems right. The Orange one looks like it should go somewhere else. Any other votes for green?

Thanks.

I'm not sure what the orange wire is but the green is definitely your temp sender wire.

Thanks. The other might be the underhood light (also disconnected) or the alarm horn (also disconnected).

I have a '69, but my sending unit wire is green, also.

Orange wires are usually reserved for 12vdc. I think that 'red' wires are always hot and 'orange' wires are switched...but I don't know if that is always true.
