Default If not one thing, its another!

Finished painting the interior metal last night and remounted the doors. Was cleaning up the windshield area, installing new clips to put the windshield trim back on and noticed a small piece of loose caulk around the windshield, went to pulling on it to get it all out so I could urethane back around it. Guess I pulled from the wrong angle and too hard (maybe one beer too many?) next thing I know I have a 8 inch crack running down the windshield. Going out today to finish knocking the windshield out and paint the frame, good thing is I am now sure there was no rust on the frame!!! when will I learn????

Don't feel too bad. Glass that cracks THAT easy are a lot more prone to cracking with a rock hit than others. It happened now when you're more prepared to deal with it than later, when you might have it finished and on the way to a show. New glass will be a lot more resilient.

Sounds like a fair price.
Will you get any Ins. reimbursement money? You should check with them.

Lust be carefull the last time I had my window replaced it didnt match up to the dash. The black trim was crooked! It took them 5 different windows before it was right. boy was that window shop pissed at me since they had allready put the new window in when we discovered it. Oh well I demanded perfection.

If your windshield was the original, you don't need to feel too bad. Glass that old gets VERY brittle, and as you found out, it's REAL easy to break. I verified this one Thanksgiving morning while the turkey was in the oven. Now I remember how sick I felt every year.
Regards,
Alan

PS: If you want to feel even better about your price, check on what a windshield costs with the logo and date code.
