custom bezel
anyone know of anybody doing custom bezel or interior work that could make the center bezel like this

What year is your car? Filling out your profile will help a lot in that department.
Looks to me like they took a shifter bezel, from a later model C3, and cut it short, then mounted it so it fell straight down from the gauge bezel, and made some side panels to cover the holes. Very ingenious actually, and it wouldn't be all that hard for you if you still have your gauge and shifter bezel.
