I've searched the threads and people say they use the static cling shades for their mirrored t-tops. Well, those did not work for me. I put them on the night before, and by lunch in the Texas heat, they were both sitting on my seats. I took my car up to a tinting place that I've had work done before, and the tint guy said he would be a little worried about putting tint on them, and he would be afraid they would break. I found that an odd response. Why would adding tint make the glass break. He told me to ask around and see if anyone else had done this, so I'm asking here. Anyone have a problem from tinting your mirrored t-tops?

I can't understand what would cause the glass to break from tinting?

Something about too much heat being absorbed or something like that. I couldn't figure that one out either, but I sure don't want to spend 1,300 on a new set of t-tops.
There was info on here for redoing your tops when the clearcoat starts to crack. It was a full rightup on how to do it. I will get the link when I get home and post it.
There are now some 'metalized' coatings which block the infrared heat from entering the glass. Several 'high-end' cars come with that option. Do a search on the internet and see if there are any aftermarket applicators in your area.
