Turns out that I will need to replace my radiator support being that after sand blasting , small holes were all along the bottom of the support. I have 3 questions. I was planning on buying a replacement through ZIP and was curious if the replacement is identical to the original one I have now minus the rust. Also all the parts I am refinishing , I am using a satin black paint and was wondering would I have to repaint the new support or is it satin in appearance. Lastly does anyone know if they (ZIP or who ever manufactures the replacement) primed the part before they painted it? I realize your all not mind readers, but someone may know the answer about the last question. The reason for the last question is because I had bought a new AC compressor from ZIP about 2 years ago when I converted my AC to R134A and after about 6 months it started to surface rust, today when I was removing the paint it came off very easily and I did not see any evidence where it had been primed before the black paint was applied, no wonder it started to rust. Thanks to all who respond.
from my experiance with this repair youll be lucky to find one that fits with out some sort of adjustment I had trouble with the bottom of mine had to grind some material off of new support so be prepared to get a full day in to get it in it was painted tough ck around for supports too. and pricing
hey there, i think they all come from the same place, i received mine yesterday and spent all day today installing stuff. It bolted in without too much drama, and the paint seems to be of high quality, it dosn't scratch easily, although i still managed to scratch it right on top. Also, if you can, you should check the bolt holes for your ac condensor, i spent over an hour bolting it in, then another hour trying to decide if i was stupid or if the holes to bolt the ac condensor on the bottom of the core were off......they were way off , i intend to call the supplier and let them know, i don't intend to remove it, after everything it took to get it in, but i'm still a bit dissapointed after spending $300. I hope three bolts is enough to keep the condensor from vibrating it's self to death .
