Nice work I installed one too. I use it when I'm waiting to pick the kids up from work or waiting for the wife at the mall. I used it for concert DVD's while on the Hot Rod Power Tour. I love it and my son watches movies when we go on long runs but the driver always keeps his eyes on the road, no different than a nav unit. My Nav unit in my CTS V will also let you watch movies while driving. That was a surprise from the factory.
I'm not sure about your gauges. Doesn't that block the A/C
i would like to replace the pos 8-track in my vette with a touch screen ... linux based mp3 player that has 802.11.x su i ca push files to iy when need be... (use smb)....
but i simply dont want to impede on my gauge cluster or re-mod my dash....
geesh
Damn I'm getting old....I have no idea WTF most of you guys in this thread are talking about
It would be nice if you could display your gauges on the screen.
Watch a movie when parked, get temp, fuel and oil when driving.
Thats the only reason I would chop up the center dash. I was looking at CArputers a while back. The inputs and all that are available, I just have not found the software for the GUI for the gauges.

I'm considering doing something like that with my LS1 conversion. There is a lot of info that can be extracted from the OBDII connector. I recently saw a video from a company that has a video guage package that would be perfect for my needs. You can select what information you want to display, select guage skins, etc. Price is comparable to replacing the existing guages. Have to get my sons to work on building a custom center panel.

Seriously tho, I think it's cool. He prolly has it for navigation. It can also be used to play cd/s interactive dvd's, sitting in a parking lot w/ his mates BS'ing around. It's cool dude. It's clean & inventive.
Don't let these ol crabs talk your brothers wheels down.
