Default 1976 throttle cable, PLEASE HELP

My accelerator peddle has a lot of play in it, and I can not figure out how to adjust the throttle cable. I'm sure its pretty simple, but I know im losing a lot of performance from it. I have a 76 with the L48 engine.

Thanks

On a 74 there is no adjustment. Where the cable bracket bolts to the carb losen that bolt an rotate the bracket towards the rear of the car. It doesen"t stay there very long though. you can bend the pedal rod inside the car but thats not a easy task, lots of folks have done that including myself but the carb bracket still moves. I opted for one of these http://www.aedperformance.com/Billet.htm works great, problem solved, there are several other manfucators that make these brackets. Hope this info is useful on your 76

I'm guessing but are you trying to get more throttle? As said above and probably the best solution you can bend the pedal rod and I would recommend you remove it from the car and bend it in a vise. You can also shorten the throttle cable a little by adding a zip tie to the pedal end of the cable.(I can provide a pic if needed to show what I mean.)

Thanks for the posts. DWncchs do you think you could post that picture for me? It sounds like that would work out perfectly. Yea, I am trying to get more throttle. I might try that bending the pedal.

I am interested as well. My cable is perhaps 1/4" too long (or stretched) and that little pedal/throttle pick-up lag from a stop sign/red light drives me crazy.

This is the end under the dash. I dont remove the cable from the car I just pop the carb end loose and go under the dash and pull on the cable then just put the zip tie on snug it up and cut off the tail.It might not last as long as bending the pedal though.

You can do the same thing by installing a garden hose washer at the firewall plastic insert with black Goop. The Goop keeps things in place and the slack in the cable is taken up completely.
