Spray carpet adhesive and a heat gun (hair dryer).

A soldering iron, round tip, to easily and smoothly make the three retaining holes in the back carpet where the plugs go. I bought the plugs and plug kit too and it helped seat those three plugs nicely.
Good luck with the install and let me know if you want to see pictures of mine which I completed last month, went pretty smoothly.

New trim rings for the storage compartment doors because ya pretty much gotta destroy the originals to replace the carpet on the comp doors.
It's been a while, but I don't recall needing any adhesive anywhere but on the 3 doors and there's no plugs needed on the 78-82 rear carpet. Pretty much tucks in and clips on.

I didn't pay close enough attention to the year, my apologies. I redid my 77 and needed the holes, sorry about mistating the need for a 78. I'll pay closer attention next time.
Thanks and best regards,
David

One thing nobody mentioned is dynamat, while you have the carpet out I would put some type of heat barrier and sound barrier underneath the carpet. Search in the forum for dynamat and reflectix that should bring up a few threads.

Good luck!

No need for heat insulation in the storage compartment. There isn't any heat source close enough to need it. Dynamat? Well, if you are an audiophile and a Corvette enthusiast and have attempted to mix those together.... I always thought that reducing noise in a C3 Corvette was "blasphemy"!

When you pull out the old stuff, keep an eye out for a build sheet. Occasionally, copies of build sheets have been found under the rear carpet.

Good luck.

Be sure and keep the old carpet to use as a template for the new.
