Default Strip dynamat reflectix... carpet

Finally got her road worthy and sounding great! time for the fun stuff
Not completely done yet but here are some pics for the install its taken about 2-3 hours so far
I cant find pics from before but trust me you didnt want to see them...

first i stripped the carpets and original juke? jute? whatever and then rubberized the floors and panels wth a product found at home depot

I would suggest you do not rubberize if you plan on using dynamat... i found out the hard way

The dynamat is extremley easy to use. It cuts easy stick to anything you would like but can come off easy as well if you havent pushed it down yet. For all interested in dynamat do yourself a favor and get the roller without it its not to fun. Another note the edges of dynamat extreme are razor sharp when cut keep that in mind.

it cuts deep so beware dont find out the hard way

after all dynamat was in place install reflectix where needed...

aluminun or foil backet tabe is great for the job

Repeat where needed

and just a loose fitof he carpet

and finally get a family member to give the pet duck a ride

but not in the vette...

How much Dynamat and Reflectix did you end up using? Where did you end up buying it?

if you want to do the whole car you will need more than 1 box of bulk maybe even 2. I got the whole rear and the passenger side floor with one more sheet to go. i just got it from some online store for around 130 i hear its on ebay for 119 shipping included

reflectix if just one of the smaller rolls it was only like $30 from lowes and it was more than enough. i didnt do the entire rear section because i heard it is a waste just the whole driver and passenger side and the rear where the juke was previously

Just to let people know - not to hijack the thread - I bought my dynamat extreme from an online site (pm if you want to know the address). They have a large box of dynamat extreme that did my entire trunk area (on 76) for 120+s/h. It was cheaper than any other place I looked at and I still have material left over for any other spots I want to do.

Btw, great job on the installation ngroat. Since I recently did it, my fingers are similar to yours, i have small cuts all over and some deep cuts. But hey, no pain no gain, right?

Nicely done...can't believe you did that all in 2-3 hours

Strongly recommenmd insulating the tunnel...major heat source and made a big difference in my 79

I think every Dynamat installer has this pic...heed the warning!

Best of luck, Steve

Insulate everything up front, for sure, as high up the firewall as you can get and over the entire tunnel. The spot on the floor where I had nothing was hot, where I had just Dynamat was still warm, and where I had Dynamat and Reflectix was cool to the touch...drive in my flip-flops without issue. Dynamat blocks some of the heat but the Reflectix is the key.

Take you time on the tunnel and be real careful to make sure all your wiring is still shielded and makes little/no contact with the Dynamat/Reflectix...the metallic surfaces can be quite conductive.

Keep up the great work!

13 sheets of Dynamat (with virtually no waste) will do the entire passenger compartment and rear of a 78 - 82. 3 more sheets will do the doors also = 2 bulk packs. $119 (with shipping included!) is the best price I could find and is about half of retail.
