Radio Question
We still have the original 8-track radio in our 78 the 8-track was working fine now we cant get it working at all. Is there a belt the drives the mechanism and can it be replaced. If not, is it possible to put a radio from an 82 with the tape player in a 78. I really want to put a more modern system in the car but my dad wants to keep it original.

Yes there's a belt around the motor shaft and then around the capstan shaft wheel. It may have broken or slipped off. A tape may have gotten wrapped around the capstan shaft and is binding it. Also may be time for a little lubrication. If it's moving, but not playing, clean the head. Or something may have given up electronically.
