69 Manual Shifter problem

Default 69 Manual Shifter problem
I took the ball off and pulled the reverse lever/rod out to remove the console. I got it all back together and the shifter wont go into reverse now. What did I do wrong here? It worked before I messed with it. I did have the trans out as well but I just moverd the shifter off to the side.

Did you put the spring in BEFORE the T-handle? If so, that's your problem, the T-handle goes in first then the spring, then the ball.

No I put the spring on top of the rod.

Did you try removing the shift ****,spring and T bar and then trying to shift into reverse?

Found the issue. I had the reverse linkage rod reversed. Fliped it over and amazingly enough it works. Thanks to all who replied.
